Review:After I ordered this computer I noticed a lot of negative reviews, and thought I might have made a mistake. I didn't. This computer works perfectly, its very good looking, very quiet, and very fast. I like it and would buy it again.
I bought it from the Dell Outlet store. The system looks new with no damage of any kind and all the books and disks that come with any new Dell. Shipping took 7 days (not bad).
For stability and reliability of ANY computer, update your software. Go to the Dell support site, enter your service tag number, find the latest updates for your bios and sound card software (this would be true for any brand of computer, and is just good practice for reliability).
Next update your video card and motherboard. If its Nvidia, you're in luck as they have a feature that mostly does the update for you. I was going to put in direct links, but its against the rules of the web site (Hint: it rhymes with nvidia.com). When you find the update site scroll down to "option 2" to update automatically.
Find some semi-secret Dell software by going to the Dell support site and search for this:
"Alienware AlienFX" (AKA: Dell AlienFX Lite)
Latest version as of 11/2009: 1.0.36v2, A04

For some reason the systems do not come with lighting control software pre-loaded (supposedly you can control the lights from the video card control panel, good luck with that, the above software works better. The listing indicates this is just for the XPS 625, wrong, same box as the 630i, works perfectly.
The next plug-in makes the lights "dance" with music. Its OK software for free, but prepare to be underwhelmed, as the lights just flash randomly and do not really sync with the music, but it is fun: (Note: to activate open Windows Media Player, select AlienFX as your visualization, click "now playing" tab, do not minimize, I'm told it also works with itunes).
Go to the support site and search for:
"Alienware AlienFX Media Plug-In"

did not get the correct disks, did not get sli as orderedcrashes even with 4 GB memory.Mouse quit after 3mo. Sales not good, service no good, unless you speak arabic.Three mos. to get restore disks. Much more, but space is limited
PRO:Key board wrks,need 2 video cards , enough watts.

Review:PROS: Great processor and system, very impressed with the performance
CONS: The wait seem lengthy, each friday I got an email that it will be delayed for 3 weeks, although customer care was very informative as to why.
Also disappointed just getting this with windows 7 coming out i thought it came with the upgrade but didn't.

Review:This computer by and large is just as advertised. The only nagging bug I've found is a tendency to completely freeze for no apparent reason, but without any lasting damage to the system. Be sure to save early and often!!
