Title: Very happy so far! Date: July 16, 2008
ProsAble to handle multiple programs w/ ease
Extremely fast (Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0ghz)
Many features - TV (satellite) hookup was a breeze
22" SP2208WFP Monitor w/ webcam and mic
ConsNone

Additional ThoughtsI reluctantly went with Vista when I ordered. I upgraded to Ultimate and I'm glad I did cause it's been great so far. Installation including internet and TV was easier than expected. I recommend getting the TV tuner. This is a great machine and well worth the price.

ProsExcellent computer with prompt excellent support. I anticipate that this computer will last for a long time. I use it mainly to process digital images and it doesafabulous job of doing that. I use Photoshop CS3 and I get excellent results in a minimum of time.
ConsI had a problem with the sleep mode but Dell Tech Support got that corrected in about 15 minutes

ProsWhat I like about it is that it fast and I like it. You can to choose which stuff you want to add on to your computer to make it better. To open in there is a switch on the top back side you pull it and the right side opens which is good. I own an old one which took me too long. All in all I like this system it's one my favorite.

Title: Worthy for the gamer in you! Date: July 14, 2008
ProsThe performance of this system is incredible. It peforms CPU and memory intensive tasks extremely well, whilst letting the user use the computer as if it were running normally. This is especially evident when using a quad core processor.

The system is fairly quiet and is attractive in its design. The system is easy to open and upgrade due to a handle which, when pulled, allows the right hand panel of the system to be removed easily. The rubberised area on the top of the system is incredibly useful and ensures that devices can be placed somewhere safe when they are connected so they are not damaged.

There is a large number of USB ports on the system including 2 on the front, and 6 on the rear. The built in wireless card allows for an easy setup of a wireless network.

The memory card reader on the front of the system is very useful and supports a wide variety of memory cards.
ConsThe case is very large and heavy and is difficult to move. The LCD screen on the top of the system is unnecessary and serves mainly as a secondary feature.

The wiring inside the system isn't as tidy as it could be, and can be frustrating when upgrading due to the lack of visibilty.

Occasionally, the case rattles at high fan speeds, which can be distracting and frustrating.

Additional ThoughtsI would recommend upgrading to 4GB RAM if your system doesn't come with this amount. This significantly and noticeable improves the speed of the system and allows you to do more tasks at once. This is also especially useful if you are interested in playing memory intensive games.

Pros1. fast
2. LOVE Vista
3. lotsa memory
4. eSATA, need I say more?
Cons1. needs more room for memory expansion over time
2. blue ray discs more expensive than other sources
3. 'high end' graphics are medium grade, not highest available
4. bluetooth should be standard, not upgrade

Additional Thoughtsstill glad I bought it. Hope it is as reliable as I expect it to be. Time will tell..... seems slightly overpriced, so watch for coupons....

Title: Good but much too user unfreindly! Date: July 14, 2008
ProsThe hardware is good, the performance is fine
ConsBasic set up is VERY easy but the little extras for individual set up needs are very difficult.
Poor availability of the detailed manuals for the optional add-ons (no single location on the machine - some have to sought out on web)
Graphics card supplied WAS NOT WHAT IS on invoice (no complaints since it is probably better) and did not have manual TOOK AN HOUR TO FIND INSTRUCTIONS ON WHICH CONNECTORS TO USE FOR DIFFERENT SPEAKERS
Dreadful that there is no HDMI 1.3 connector.
Instructions for using obscure ATI S-Video output only availabel on web and connector not supplied

Additional ThoughtsWhy not put ALL manuals for ALL equipment on machine in one location along with links to each manufacturers website??

Title: XPS420 Date: July 2, 2008
ProsThe computer arrived early. Ordering was painless and set-up was even easier. My wife did the actual set-up and she is not computer literate. This is the easiest mail order computer that I have done (did 3 others previously). Love the 22 inch screen which is very fast (no ghosts) and color is terrific. Bluetooth is something that I have never used and it is super simple; really like the idea of no wires.
ConsSo much to read; so little time to work the computer.

Additional ThoughtsBought a Netgear Rangemax-N router to connect this computer wirelessly with my old computer. No delay from my cable modem to this computer that I can detect. Suggest that you max out the RAM for best performance.

ProsFast Quad Core processor (Q9450), 1TB of storage. Excellent sound from the BOSE 3 companion. Easy wireless connection and game on for all FPS games!
Large 22in monitor which is crystal clear and allows me to see everything.
I also taking advantage of the 512MB nVidia card and using two monitors.
ConsMaybe should have taken monitor with webcam and mic (additional USB ports in monitor too).
Also should have gotton the Blu ray burner.

Additional ThoughtsCompletly happy with yet another Dell purchase.

Title: BLAZING speed! Date: June 30, 2008
ProsThe title says it. Blazing speed. Reliable functioning. Fast processing and big memory have a way of eliminating software glitches. The quad processor is a big leap forward. It takes all the "wait" out of most everything you do on this computer. Graphics and games have a richness and detail like never before. Great machine.
ConsCons? I would find a way to put a couple of USB ports and the headphone jack on or near the top front of the cabinet -- for those who leave it on the floor. I would also put a volume control near the headphone jack. (I know there is a software-based volume control on the screen, but a separate control would be quicker and safer for the ears.)

Additional ThoughtsIf you're debating, go ahead and buy this machine. The difference in performance is worth the investment.

Title: Great Quality Date: June 25, 2008
ProsOverall an awesome computer.
- Large case with lots of open space and free drive bays.
- Incredibly fast processor.
- Quick RAM with relatively low latency.
- Good ventalation.
- Lots of USB ports, IEEE 1394, e-SATA
- PCI-e 2.0 capable mainboard
- It's actually pretty light and easy to move, as far as computers go.
Cons- Only one PCI-e x16 slot.
- Mediocre CPU heatsink.
- Currently no option to order without a graphics card.
- Doesn't support 1066 RAM.
- Won't let me pick the processor I acutally bought for this review. (It says Q6600 but it's actually a Q9450 (Intel® Core™2 Q94500 Quad-Core (12MB L2 cache,2.66GHz,1333FSB))

Additional ThoughtsAlthough the computer comes with only 1 PCI-e x16 slot, it is possible to *edit* the PCI-e x8 slot to have it fit a PCI-e x16 card, buy cutting some plastic off of the slot, effectivly making it an x8 slot that can seat an x16 card. Then, by downloading user-created drivers for the X38 chipset, you can effectivly run two cards in SLI or Crossfire. However, you might want to do this *after* your warrenty expires, if you know what I mean.
Also, the Q9450 is a cool processor. It uses less power than the Q6 series and actually has a power management system that will clock the processor back to 2.0 GHz at low usage and clock it to 2.66GHz at peak usage. Also, the 45nm technology of the Q9 series is superior (and faster) than the Q6 series.

Title: Darth Vader :) Date: June 24, 2008
ProsIt is the Dath Vader of our home :) Hard disk is little big and heavy, and i bought 22" inch screen, and 2.1 speakers which all black... So thats the name that we decided to give this perfect machine... Its been 2 weeks and running really well with all applications like Adobe Photoshop, Premiere etc. and all latest games... It s always cool and quiet...It s pleasure to watch movies in big screen :) By the way, I chose ati radeon 512 mb graphic card with this system, that i am really happy with...
ConsI had problems with hard drive partition, as it calls volume in Vista. Cause you can have maximum 4 volumes. But system comes with 3 volumes, which is Os, Recovery and a secret one for system restores, etc ( EISA Config. ) . So it means you can create just one more partition ( volume ) for yourself... But it is a problem of vista not the system...

Additional ThoughtsVista and Xp are totally different sometimes, so i need more practice :)
