Title: Purchased Aug 2017, did all driver updates, works perfect with XPS 9550
PostedAugust 11, 2016
Yes, I would recommend this product
Was very hesitant to purchase do to others giving it poor reviews, but when Dell had a coupon for accessories to went ahead and bought it. Gotta say I love it so far. Very plug and play. Very sharp dock, smaller than I was expecting (in a good way).

Was very hesitant to purchase do to others giving it poor reviews, but when Dell had a coupon for accessories to went ahead and bought it. Gotta say I love it so far. Very plug and play. Very sharp dock, smaller than I was expecting (in a good way).
The first thing I did was update my bios and all the Dell drivers, there's actually a little note on the cover of the instructions that states you MUST do this. My guess if for the majority of people who have had problems, they did not do this step.
I did get an error that the incorrect charger is plugged in when I first started my laptop, which I have experienced with other docking stations that also charge. This is easily disabled in the Bios under "adapter warning" and the laptop charges perfectly when plugged into the dock.
My only suggestion to Dell is to make the thunderbolt cord a right angle connection so the stiff TB cord doesn't come straight out the side of the laptop, it would be sleek if it ran more parallel to the side of the laptop IMO.
I'm running a Dell XPS 9550 (all drivers updated)
Monitor is an Acer H236HL connected via HDMI
Also have connected to the dock my keyboard and mouse, my printer and my external hard drive. Everything working perfect thus far.
I'm waiting for my 2nd external monitor to arrive, the only thing I have not tested yet is a dual monitor set up. (hide)
Pros:price great (with coupon), plug and play, low profile/small footprint

Title: Fantastic Dock
PostedSeptember 14, 2016
Yes, I would recommend this product
You will find reviews here telling you that this is not a dock because it provides no power to the laptop. They are wrong! It provides 180 W and keeps it charged great. I have attached all of my peripherals to it and it performs wonderfully eliminating my old USB 3.0 hub. The convenience of the 2 USB ports and a headset jack on the front is great (OK so they are USB 2.0). This is a great companion to my XPS 15 9550 which is also out of this world.
Pros:centrally ttaching all of the peripheral devices.

Title: Works on Dell Precision 7510 Linux (CentOS/Red Hat 7.2)
PostedAugust 31, 2016
Yes, I would recommend this product
I have a Dell Precision 7510 and this dock works out of the box with the following things plugged in at the same time:
- Power
- Monitor (DisplayPort) -> Dock (MiniDisplay Port)
- USB Devices (i have a USB hub with 4 devices plugged into one of the USB 3.0 ports on the Dock, everything works)
- Sound (headset+mic works, just have to select "USB Audio Analog Stereo" in the sound options)
OS Info:
$ uname -a
Linux localhost 3.10.0-327.28.3.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Aug 18 19:05:49 UTC

$ cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS Linux release 7.2.1511 (Core)
Everything is plugged into my dock and then the single USB-C cable is plugged into my Dell Precision 7510. This thing is good enough that i'm going to buy a second one to have at work so i can have a single cable experience both at work and at home.
Note: The only reason i'm giving this thing 4 starts is that when i plug it in my external monitor doesn't default as the primary monitor and i can not hit Fn+F7 to make this primary. I'm guessing this is more of a flaw of the laptop and/or NVidia drivers. (hide)

Title: How to mount
PostedMarch 17, 2016
User submitted photo
Yes, I would recommend this product
While the picture on the WD15 product page looks really nice with the dock mounted on the back of a monitor, it seems nobody at Dell has any idea how to do that. I was able to figure out on my own to order the "Chromebox Monitor Stand Mounting Bracket", part #575-BBDR, however there are no mounting screws provided either with the WD15, or with the Chromebox monitor stand that fit. Nobody at Dell had any idea what kind of screws are needed to accomplish this. The WD15 has two small screw holes on ...(read more)

Title: Unfortuneatly just an expensive charger
PostedMay 2, 2016
No, I do not recommend this product.
Constant screen flickers, will not maintain USB connection to keyboard and mouse. Rarely if ever wakes up from sleep mode. This product is a great idea that simply does not work and is not ready for market. Hopefully Dell figures out what the problem is and corrects it. Until then, save your money.
Pros:great idea, great connection potential
Cons:simply does not work

Product form factor is great.. it's really small and looks nice on your office desk,, but that is about it.. We have tried many workaround and suggested fixed and even full driver, bios and firmware update as per http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19677048
The updates do not fix the issues. There are many comments indicating the updates do not help on that forum. Dell has not released any communication regarding a fix and there have been no further updates to the drivers.
The issues:
The laptop shows a power warning on boot. (This has to be disabled in the bios)
You cannot boot with the laptop closed with the dock plugged in.
You cannot unplug the dock and plug it back in while the laptop is running, after hibernate or after sleep.
All USB ports are non-functional on machine boot.
The network adapter randomly does not work on machine boot.
For both of the above:
The issue occurs randomly after clean shutdown and boot. The only way to correct this is to power down and try again.

Title: Audio Jack is defective
PostedJuly 26, 2016
No, I do not recommend this product.
This is a known problem that Dell is unable to fix. With the XPS 13 9350, the audio jack on the docking station does not work. (It does work on the laptop itself.)
Dell sent me a replacement for the original and the audio jack is defective on that as well.
I am hoping that Dell will let me know when they have fixed the problem and provide another replacement then.
Pros:everything else works
