Title: Inspiron 1545
|
Date: November 22, 2009
|
Product Uses: college, Gaming, home responsibilities: bills correspondence etc.
Review:I have already recommended Dell to a friend for a computer purchase. That being said, I also told him to watch closely as he builds his system. Dell likes to add unncessary items. The site indicated that I did not select a sound card. However, the laptop came with onboard sound, so I purchased a plugin PCMCI sound card unnecessarily. I also selected to not have Lojack and no online backup. Laptop came with both. The 1545 is a great little laptop otherwise. It came with Windows 7, which SO FAR, is running really well after one month. Finally, read the independent reviews of Microsoft's Security Essentials Suite. No need for a resource hogging add-on anti-virus program.

Title: Amazing.......

Product Uses: travelling, internet browsing & download, basic gaming, movies, presentations, photos & videos
Review:Laptop Configuration Intel Core 2 Duo T-6500 2.1 Ghz. 3 Gb Ram. 320 Hd
Pros- 1.Good Speed. 2.Wonderful Display. 3.Good Battery Life - [3-3.30 Hrs for Browsing & Presentations and around 1.30 hr for gaming]. 4.Inbuilt Microphone Quality Is Very Good. 5.Decent Speakers. 6.The Media Functions Are Placed On Function Keys Which Is Good. The Keypad Looks Clean. Its a bit difficult to use in the beginning but once you get used to it there's no problem. 7.A 7 in one card reader. 8.Good Looking.I purchased the black color which looks classic. 9.The ports are located in front & on sides. Its easy to use. 10.Very Quite.
Cons- 1.Web Cam suffers in low light areas. 2.Mouse pad is located more to the left which makes it difficult for right hand users to use it.
Suggestions- 1.Get your laptop laminated. It will protect your laptop from scratches & fingerprints on the glossy surface,Screen & Top cover. You can get it done for just Rs 300 [$6 Approx]. 2.For best experience install XP Professional Pack 2 or Windows 7. 3.Use a good anti virus to protect your system from any problems.

Title: Great Improvement
|
Date: November 20, 2009
|
Product Uses: school work, surfing, watching movies, photos, playing music
Review:I would have taken almost anything over our bogged-down, 8 year old desktop. The Inspiron 1545 meets our needs and is a great improvement. We got the Core 2 Duo T6500, 4 GB RAM, 6-cell battery, and WLED display. Battery lasts much longer than the 2 year old Inspiron I use for work, The screen is clear and bright, and Windows 7 runs great on it. I thought I was removing some software bloat when it first arrived, but then DVDs wouldn't play on it. So I re-installed Windows (piece of cake!), and it runs fine again. Internet was easy to set up. Touch pad works fine by itself. Clean look (no extra buttons or ports to clutter things), nice to have the webcam for school. Reasonable price.
The keys sometimes squeak and sound cheap when typing. When we're on the internet, occasionally we must hit something on the keyboard that simultaneously causes the browsing history to pop up and the cursor to move to a different part of the window and screw up what we're typing. It only has 3 USB ports, which are quickly taken up by a mouse, cooling stand, and external hard drive. Printer? Unplug something first.
Otherwise, we're happy with it.
